HISTORY

NIOC Central Library is one of Iran's oldest specialized libraries. It was established in 1955 and was directly managed by NIOC Board of Directors until 1960 and was called “Board of Directors Library”. Gradually its name was changed to “Central Library”, and after bringing together a lot of economic and technical books and journals in the field of petroleum, the library became a professional one. Central Library was, for some time, under the direct supervision of NIOC Administrative Manager, but later its management was transferred to the Central Training Department.
Now as “NIOC Information Center and Central Library”, it is one of the richest existing centers in the Middle East.
It is noteworthy that the NIOC Central Library is the first library in Iran which has been computerized and uses the most recent technology in order to access information easier and faster.

SEARCHING RESOURCES

You can access our resources either directly via NIOC Library website (www.nioclibrary.ir), or NIOC website (www.nioc.org). What you should do is first to click on "Central Library" on NIOC homepage, and then select "search". Now select "NIOC Central Library" from the list and click on "log-in". Confirm the window that appears with the user name ''guest'' without entering any password. Click on "Select database" from the menu above. From among the databases that appears in the list (library resources), choose your required item and again click on "select database". In the new window, you can search for your required material by its title, author, subject, publisher, etc. If you are looking for a word which is not in a specific field, you can use the "General" field. Unless you are sure of the spelling of your keyword, or if you intend to do a more generalized search, type at least three characters of your intended word and add $ at the end of character without any space and then click on "search".
